Erythritol May Lead to Heart Problems

The zero-calorie sweetener, widely used by the food industry, has shown to be "linked to blood clotting, stroke, heart attack and death, according to a new study." Those who consume the sweetener in high amounts may be two times higher at risk for heart attack and stroke.

2019 marked my second attempt to tackle the elements and test my physical preparedness at the XTERRA Lake Tahoe off-road triathlon. This year I was in far poorer shape, partly because of the lack of training prior to the stem cell injection into my right knee. Nonetheless, this race was the highlight of my summer.

This race is EPIC! If a person could do one XTERRA race only in the United States I am a firm believer that it should be this one. The course at Lake Tahoe is nothing short of breathtaking — the swim in the clearest water in the U.S., and a bike course that climbs from 6,300ft to 8,600ft.
